5 Quick Tips to Make Your Festive Cleaning a Breeze
GREEN COMMUNITY TAKE-OVER
It's Festive season and two excited vookified members of the Green Community are taking over the Blog this month. Let's join in on their conversation about festive prep and all that it takes to keep a home hygienic, sparkling and clean to make you the perfect host for all your festive gatherings happiness and peace.
“Finally! It is done!” I shouted in excitement, as I completed the cleaning routine of the last room of our house, in preparation for the lineup of festivals this year. And then I bragged to my wife saying “You know what, Madhu? I think I should give myself a medal that reads - ‘Home cleaner - Pro’. What say?”. And she gave a cursory look at me to say “If only you had half the brain to organize things! Sigh!”. Wow! That burnt a bit. But jokes aside, at the end of the day, we got our home prepped for the festivities and we’re all ready for party time.
So, in addition to what I had shared earlier on Festival Cleaning tips, here are some quick ideas to help you with getting the cleanup routine done with ease.
Tidy-up in Two:
Set a countdown timer for two minutes in each room and get family members to quickly pick up and put away items that are out of place. And in the end, you will get a floor that is clear of clutter to get your floor cleaning and mopping done. It could be made into a fun activity by adding a reward at the end. You’ll be surprised how many times I’ve been beaten by Madhu, for a reward as small as an ice candy.
Zone it out:
This is a personal favorite of mine. Mark your home into cleaning zones and assign it among folks at home. Each day, focus on one zone, deep cleaning, using Hardstain Spray for any of those stubborn stains and tidying only that area. This allows you to focus your efforts seamlessly and prevents you from feeling overwhelmed.
Old Socks as Dusting Mitts:
Slip an old sock (albeit a clean one) onto your hands and use them as dusting mitts. This can help you dust quickly, and you can throw away the socks in the laundry when you're done. Thanos wears the gauntlet to turn things into dust. I wear the old sock to get rid of the dust (A super-villain fanboy moment).
Air Fresheners - DIY style:
Create your own signature air fresheners by simmering water with citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, and cloves on a stove. This allows the home to have a festive aroma besides boosting your morale up during the cleanup.
Hit the Music:
Make the cleaning efforts more enjoyable by hitting up a festive cleaning playlist. Playing your favorite tunes can keep you motivated and make the cleaning process more enjoyable. So, pull out your Bluetooth speakers and let the music play on.
Don't stress too much about achieving perfection in your cleaning efforts, in time you will find your sweet spot and things will fall in place. Enjoy the festivities and the company of your family and friends! Compliments of the season to you all!
